Star Ocean Guide: Dread Dwellers Walkthrough

Stage 1:

Interact with the vortex above the underwater moon and descend.
Good essay
Disembark and go left to enter the Infinite Abyss.
You’ll find yourself on a descending platform with two tentacles on each side, each with approximately 1000 HP.
Hit both tentacles with Valere’s Lunar Dart.
Mix in standard physical attacks to replenish MP.
Charged Sun Balls and physical attacks do decent damage.
Remove one tentacle first, then save MP.
Finally, use Zal or Valere’s full physical attack to eliminate the other tentacle.

Stage 2:

Similar to the first stage, two tentacles are present.
They use slam and spike attacks, but faster this time.
Repeat the same strategy as in phase one.
Avoid using combo attacks or ultimate attacks during this phase.

The third phase:

The platform falls, revealing the Dread Dweller and two curling tentacles.
The Dweller will launch powerful attacks, including the “Terror Gaze” that separates Valere and Zarai.
Use only physical attacks to save MP during separation.
The tentacles caused problems for attacks such as “chewing” and swallowing characters.
Use heavy hits like X-Strike Combo and Valere’s Moonerang on the tentacles.
B’st is better suited as a tank or for unlocking rather than dealing damage.
Focus on attacking residents with charged attacks, and use ultimate attacks when possible.
Watch out for the “Chomp” attack.
Eventually, the Dread Dwellers will be defeated.

After defeating the inhabitants, the moon rises and you gain the ability to fly around the map. This unlocked Zalay and Valere’s true potential and accessed previously inaccessible areas. You can save the exploration in a separate article, focusing on the “true ending”. When you’re ready, head to the Fleshmaster’s Lair for the final dungeon and boss battle.
