The process of bringing this beloved story to the screen has been a years-long labor of love. The project’s inception dates back to May 2016, when plans for a remake were confirmed.
The film’s score and songs were commissioned from composer Alan Menken, who contributed to the score of the original animated film. Menken is working with Lin-Manuel Miranda, who also serves as producer, along with Platt, John DeLuca and Marshall.
